Herning - Preliminary & Main Round Host City
Herning has a long tradition of hosting large-scaled sport events. In 2012, two stages of the Giro d’Italia took place here, and the city has been host to, for example, the Ice Hockey World Championship, the European Under-21 Football Championship, European Cycling Championship and - of course when it comes to handball - the Men's EHF EURO 2014, the Women's EHF EURO 2010, the Women's World Championship 2015 and, most recently, the Men's World Championship 2019.
Whether you are a shopaholic, foodie, culture seeking or into breathtaking nature experiences, Herning is full of fun! The many specialised stores in Herning induce customers with fashionable Danish design and international brands. Both the city and the mall are filled with a plethora of shops, where staff is eager to make sure that you return with just the right items.
When you are done with a day of shopping and the hunger starts to set in, why not head to the downtown area where you will find an abundance of restaurants offering both local Danish treats like 'Smørrebrød' as well as high-end international cuisine.
